Lynette Campbell Glass Art Retrospective

Lynette Campbell died in 2005, cutting all too short a life devoted to making glass. I blogged last year about the enjoyment I get from the pieces of hers I have. Now there's to be a retrospective exhibition of work she left behind, which will provide an opportunity for others to acquire and enjoy Lyn's glass art. Burning Issues is the gallery in Whangārei where Lynette was blowing again just before her death. It was set up by Keith Mahy, who taught Lyn glass blowing at Northland Polytech, beginning in 1989. So it's a really appropriate gallery to host such an exhibition. There's a preview at 5pm on Friday 26 September, and the exhibition runs from then until October 23rd. If you can be anywhere near Whangārei during that period, do go and have a look at this exhibition - it promises to be fabulous. Burning Issues is in the Harbour Basin complex in Whangārei, down by the river.

  3. Kia ora from New Zealand, Gideon. Sadly, since Lynette's death I don't think her glass is on any website except my glass blog. I have quite a number of pieces in my collection, and I use my blog to make it available that way. I enjoyed visiting your website and looking at your glass. Thanks for your comment.

  5. Kia ora, Anonymous. Lyn's work turns up on TradeMe quite often - I have bought some from time to time. There was a great piece there on Tuesday - 576690045. You may also be able to get some through Burning Issues in Whangarei. Good luck, it's great work.

  8. Julian, there is another piece just listed on TradeMe as 581835210. It's dated 1999 and is 48cm tall - huge. I have no connection to the vendor.

  9. Thanks, wow what a piece. Of course I chose the buy now option rather than take a chance. It will match perfectly two wine goblets, a perfume bottle, large blue platter and lighter blue bowl I have. Keep me in mind if you ever see any other pieces crop up. My email is juliangray@hotmail.com. This piece did not come up for me when searching by number but did when I put the reference number in. Hope I'm not missing out on some other really good finds. Thanks again, much appreciated. Rgds Julian.

  11. Hi Stuart. Just checking in to see if you are aware of any of Lynette's work that may be for sale? The lime ones that come up on a google search are briliant. They use to be held at Statements Gallery but are no longer there. Rgds Julian.

  12. Kia ora, Julian. As we have discussed before, TradeMe is the only place I know that one can buy Lynnette's glass, and that only happens when soemone puts a piece up for auction. Keep trying!
